Handwriting Without Tears

In addition to rotating thematic units and centers, we use the Handwriting Without Tears program to advance writing skills. You can learn more about Handwriting Without Tears by clicking Here

Block Play

Children can improve their motor skills, practice problem solving, and learn to work with their classmates while playing in the block learning center. Block play enables children to explore their creative side by building unique structures and communities with blocks, people, and animals. The block learning center will also teach children about basic engineering and architectural concepts.

Chapel

Chapel is once a week for 20 minutes and is led by the Director. We start with the Lord’s Prayer, have a short Bible lesson, sing songs using American Sign Language, and close in prayer

Music and Movement

Students develop their gross and fine motor skills, cooperation skills, and listening skills while enjoying various types of music.

Playground

Playing outdoors has benefits for both young children and educators. It’s a refreshing pause in the day’s schedule—time set aside to look and listen, explore and observe, move and let loose. Time spent outside can lead to better physical and mental health, improved sleep, and cognitive, social, and emotional gains for young children. See what NAEYC says about outside activity Here

Math and Manipulatives

The math and manipulatives center can help children further develop their fine motor skills and better understand beginning math concepts. Children can also practice their problem-solving skills and improve their hand-eye coordination by sorting counters and participating in other similar activities.

Literacy

Having a quiet area to practice their reading, writing, and comprehension skills will help children express ideas, explore their interests, and learn about the world around them. A literacy center helps foster skills in children that will influence their overall success in school and in life.

S.T.E.A.M

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math. The children will become scientists and do an experiment, engineers who design and build bridges, or mathematicians who explore patterns, sorting, and shapes. They will learn about simple machines and about the arts, including music, dance, artists, drama, music, and lots more!

Dramatic Play

Dramatic play encourages creativity, self-expression, and knowledge of the community. It also gives children opportunities to role-play as adults in everyday situations and a variety of careers.
